Richard Moody writes to Jim Coleman: >>>> I accept and consider it an honor to be considered for a "tuneoff" with you. Are you going to tune the unisons by machine? That would be strictly machine. ---ric <<<< Let me suggest that a more realistic Tuneoff Challenge would allow the machine user (Jim) to tune unisons by ear, since that is how the machines are most commonly used. Instead of wearing ear muffs to rule out Jim's aural tuning ability, how about making a rule that Jim must not play two notes at once, or use the sustain pedal. Being deprived of hearing interval beats he could not cheat and use his aural skills. Someone could sit in the room and monitor Jim for compliance with this rule. Given Jim's reputation, there should be no difficulty getting a volunteer to watch, just to get an opportunity to witness a master in action. -Robert Scott Detroit/Windsor Chapter
