How old is too old?

Unless the damper felts got wet, or were exposed to a lot of moisture outside 
the box, I would say there shooed not be anything wrong with it. After all, 
we work on pianos that are 50 - 100 years old, and the hammers, and in some 
cases the dampers, are still in good condition.
