Rio Grande is an art supply company that sells a water based clear metal
sealant. A friend who repairs band instruments showed this stuff to me.
It's very easy to apply, quick drying, heat and acid resistant, and safe.
She did some soldering on a trumpet mouth pipe right next to this finish,
and it did not turn color from the heat. I can find the mailing address if
you're interested.
