The problem with the unit you have is that the support under the string (below the notch) is too thick. It needs to be ground down so it is just over 2 mm high. Also there are techniques to using the tool. First, set the handle to a comfortable position or to conform to the stringing location. Set the height of the outer sleeve so the beck hole is just visible through the notch, then insert the wire. When you make the becket rotate the outer sleeve clockwise to you are not putting a double bend in the wire. Make sour two and a half turns then remove the tool. It does take a little practice and familiarity with the tool to make it work well every time.
