Tuning pin length?

I have a 1 1/4" Multi-lamination Maple Pinblock. Can someone suggest the
tuning pin length? The L&H had 2 1/2 inch pins which were too long in my
opinion. Someone had restrung it, nasty, pinblock that didn't touch the
flange anywhere. I'm thinking 2/0 x 2 1/4 should be fine giving more
that 1" in the block. Suggestions please!  Plate varies in thickness
from .3" to .360". Rich
