Hi Terry,


In drying out sound boards one method is to draw a pencil line accross =
the board against the grain, mark out a specific length 1M or 4', place =
board in oven (or however you are doing it) and when measurement has =
srunk by 1.5 CM or 1" the board is ready for assembly.  MEASUREMENTS ARE =
NOT ACCURATE. ONLY AN INDICATION.

This is the method once used by a piano manufacturer in Sydney =
Australia.  I think it was Bently, ask Ron Overs, he may have the =
formula.

If you know what the MC of the timber is to start with you can work out =
the what the shrink amount would be when the board is reduced to 6.5 MC =
completely.  By useing a humidity setting (even if accurate, you would =
still have to leave the board there for a specific time.
