Tuning levers

Tom and interested readers,
I'm not sure all that's being said about various levers,
specifically titanium vs. extension, is worthy of direct comparison. I have
been looking into this recently and have asked the opinion of the lists and
many favor the new titanium levers because of rigidity. What is not being
said about them is that they are significantly shorter! When one purchases
and uses an extension lever it is only natural to extend it, no? When you
do there is likely to be some flex as there are now 2 pieces not one. In my
mind the decision is not so much the material used for the shank but rather
how much leverage one desires against the pin. FWIW I tried tuning for a
day with my old rosewood handled extension lever UN-extended. I really
didn't like it at all. I felt that that was more of a comparison so I chose
to purchase a Watanabe yesterday and will await it's arrival. Also, I'd
like to add that a deciding factor for me was the quality of the tips. Of
the 2 or 3 Titanium levers available they all seemed to use Schaff tips.
Not for Me!
