Hi Alan,
             A dab of CA glue will be a lot better.  That dope attracts 
moisture, and can lead to other problems. There is often a hair line crack 
from the birds eye, that's the cause of the problem, the CA will solve that 
also, dope will not.
Fixed many in this manner. If I fix the birds eye I will always ream, and 
go up a size for the new pin.
