I think this is a bit of hyperbole and I completely disagree with you.  He
seems to like everything about the piano except that it is a bit heavy.
This problems is very likely solved without too much trouble.  In fact,
compared to some Steinway problems that occur due to poorly placed leverage
points, this problem should be relatively simple.  As it has become evident
that he is not a technician, he will have to find a tech who can help him or
learn how to analyze the problem himself.  There is enough information
available for him to at least develop a layperson's knowledge of how to
address the problem.  With a little research and effort, he can probably do
the job himself.
