I've had good success with just the set screw tapped in the wood. Of course
one has to be careful. Usually after one or two broken ones, we find the
right drill bit to screw combination ;-)

      Question on this method. Do you need to install a collar in the damper
lever to accept the screw, or is the screw threaded into the wood directly ?
