confused

I saw it.  It's the way mailing lists are set up, not you.  Even though I
see your email address in the "From" field, the list program adds another
field "Reply-To" (see below), which forces all replies to the list.

To make it go only to the "From" address, you must cut and paste it into the
"To:" field, and delete the mailto:pianotech@ptg.org address (if your
program lets you).
