>Do you know that the material is "Durham's Rock Hard Soundboard >Putty" - whatever that is? Perhaps it is a properly applied epoxy? >Proper epoxy, properly applied can make for a good repair. The only >question then would be whether repair is a good way to go! > >Terry Farrell I really dont' have much of an idea what the material is, I do not know who did the rebuilding of the piano. "Durham's Rock Hard Soundboard Putty" is a punning reference to "Durham's Rock Hard Water Putty", a filler putty to which the material in question bears a strong resemblence. I'm pretty sure the soundboard isn't expoxied... the bridge cracks seem to be expoxied, you can see where the cracks are and they appear to be filled/covered/repaired with a clear hard substance. The soundboard cracks appear to be filled with a brown hard substance. What's this about epoxying soundboard cracks? Where can I get information? -Tyler
