Bill,
Methinks the simplest solution would be to give him the Steinway. The cost
of moving it to the hall surely would be cheaper than a day and a half of
trying to make the Bechstein into something that it is not capable of being.
The guy wants a Steinway, so I'd give him the Steinway and be done with it.
Just my 2 cents worth.
