The end result looks somewhat like a normal, solid, machine-crowned rib. Yes, the laminations are horizontal -- assuming a horizontal soundboard as in a grand. And yes, the crown in molded into the rib as we press -- the cauls are curved to the crown radius desired. I've never tried vertically laminated ribs, though I know others have. Del
