I thought it was a NY Steinway and he hated Hamburgs? I remember when I worked for a piano rental company and we had our Hamburg D on the stage at the Opera House in SF. Horowitz was trying out the house Steinway, I believe, but it might have been his own...Roy Foreman was the SF Symphony technician at the time...I was peaking through a stage hole and Horowitz went over to our Hamburg and played a bit and really stuck his nose up afterwards. I remember Roy trying to talk Horowitz into taking him with him when he toured...;-]

I am interested in the piano that Horowitz played on. Could anyone tell me the dw/uw of his piano. I understand it was a hamburg steinway that had to be modified. Does anyone know how it was done and/or the design of this action.

        thank you from delta B.C.
