Joe,

This is the best suggestion yet. So you are saying use hitch pin punchings
for the balance rail. How about thinner punchings for the front rail because
I can't get enough key dip.

A lot of European pianos used extremely thin balance rail punchings. As our
suppliers don't have it listed as such, but will suffice quite well....use
the larger (dia.) "Hitch Pin Punchings".
