vertical action cradles

    Hi Charles:
I'd be willing to bet they are the same, they look identical in their
catalogs. You might consider looking at American Piano Supply's cradle which
also looks the same, but prices differ. According to the latest pricing,
Schaff: $81, Pianotek: $68, and Apsco: $60. I began using mine with the
long rails in place which makes sliding the cradle in and out of a car
easier, but storage is bulky. I now use the short legs and leave them in
place all the time. Either way, I found it helpful to insert a hardwood or
aluminum plug into the ends of the pipes that go into the heads of the
cradle to keep the thinwall pipe tubing from crushing and loosening up. The
allen head set screws that are used, puts a lot of pressure on the tubing
and they tend to loosen and fall out. This modification will eliminate that
problem. It is a great tool, and indespensible if you do much vertical
action work. Mike Kurta RPT
