Hi Baoli,
Actually iron is .284 per cubic inch titanium is .163 per cubic inch or
rounded off one half as much as iron.
However since titanium is stronger than tempered iron or steel a tool can be
made even lighter and still have the same strength.
Removing weight does not always result in a better tool. Ever try to throw a
ping pong ball at a target? It is much easier with a little more mass that
you can feel. But too much mass ( 16 pound shot putt ) and the advantage of
mass is gone.
Ever try one of those HEAVY factory tuning hammers<G> For use while standing
only?
