Hot Hide glue techniques

Many years ago, when Pratt &  Read still had a presence in Ivoryton CT, I
had the privilege of speaking to one of the old timer who had "laid " ivory
before plastic took over.  He told me that the rooms had to be both hot and
humid for the glue wafers and keys to make proper adhesion to the ivory.
Now that must have been some sweat shop!
