drilling new pinblock/quick help

The idea that the tuning pin should be at an angle because its stronger is a platitude that impresses the non-technical among us. It used to drive me crazy trying to get the coils lifted when they just naturally wanted to slip down because of the severe angle.

Now I will try to arrange things so that the wire leaves the pin at right angles.  I  now drive the pins to the depth that will result in the proper height when three turns of wire is wound and also have the wire leave the pin at right angles.  I use the scortino insta coiler.  Lately, I've had that tool crack and it no longer works.  A friend bought two of them from schaff and they were both cracked when he got them.  Frusterating!!!
