restringing a screw stringer

I've never done this (although I have one), but I remember in the mid
70s, Horace Comstock told me that M & H had the idea to reintroduce
the screw stringer.  They ran a cost sheet on the idea and figured it
would take a stringer about 8 times as long to do the stringing.  The
idea was abandoned.
