Gray Market Pianos

Hello,

Yes but I can buy parts as hammer assembly or others with any regular
Yamaha number, that does not seem to be a problem if you know what
part to ask for. I did not do that for gray market pianos actually,
but it appears that I needed parts without knowing the piano number,
and I was able to receive them whith another piano serial number.

For grand Yamaha's I was surprised to hear a very nice job done by the
French hammer - refelter - Desfougeres. Good shape, plenty of felt; a
little tension but a pleasing sound in the end (the treble need to be
well lacquered). As the cost is a little less than new heads (and you
don't have to unglue/glue ... that seem a cheap but sometime valuable
option.

The problem lies in the unevenness of the results for these kind of
jobs, but some hammers also are not very even in quality .

Greetings
