Yes, if I have anything to contribute to this list , it is to echo this imperative: ALWAYS check the hinge pins on a grand. There is a grand in a local hotel with a PianoDisc which I tune regularly. The bass end is against the wall. The last time I tuned it, I (once again) craned my neck to check the hinge pins. Yes, I was wondering: "why am I doing this... am I compulsive or what?" Surprise! One of the pins was missing. How did it happen? No one at the hotel knows. Happened to have one in my kit that actually fit.
