This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment BACKGROUND: 60's Henry Miller Spinet. Drop-wire action (mumble, mumble). Hammers have been reshaped before and 9 bass hammers had popped off their moldings. Glued each felt w/thick CA and clamped. Then drilled two small holes completely through felt and molding near the tail. Put .22 gauge steel wire down one hole and back up the other. Twisted wires tight, cut all but about 1/4" off and flattened the remaining twist against the tail. BUT: Several hammers in this section were hitting strings of the lower neighboring note--and based on the grooves--they had been for a long time. CONFESSION: "Forgive me, RPT Father, for I have sinned." "What have you done, my son?" "I have done a down-and-dirty fix instead of hassling with hard to reach screws and parts and messing with travel paper. The customer has little money and I had little time." "Hmmm. So what sin did you actually commit?" "Well, RPT Father, I have taken my little Dremmel tool with a sanding drum and I have eroded away some perfectly good hammer material on the bottom left edge of six old hammers." "Oh, My. Do you feel remorse for this sin?" "Hell, No (Oh, excuse me, I mean: 'HECK, No') It worked beautifully and the customer had agreed to it." SIGNATURE: The Mad Sander of Salem (A.K.A.
