Not necessarily. With an upright the deflection angle can often be much =
less than 10=BA and still give good speaking length termination. It =
depends on the distance between the V-bar and the pressure bar. If it's =
close in that angle can be very slight and it will all still work quite =
well.

This is another subject for which a search of the archives might be =
useful. But in general the pressure bar should be at an elevation which =
renders the string length between it and the tuning pins roughly =
parallel to the surface of the pinblock or plate. Whichever comes first.
