Cy,

I myself don't know anything more than what's in three of the
usual book sources, Daniel Spillane, Alfred Dolge, and Larry
Fine's Piano Book. I usually find all three worth checking out
(everything taken with loads of grains of salt!), but I'm sure
others can give other and better sources. I usually also check
the Appendix in Craig Roell, which is derived from information
current in 1916. (Not 1910, as I remembered wrongly...)
I couldn't find Krakauer in this Appendix, probably because there
is a lower limit for company size.

I do recall reading a post in Pianotech or CAUT last year (original date
not recalled), from somebody who once had found a good Krakauer piano that
had been put out to the curb -- perhaps that was in Brooklyn. Or could
that have been you?

Thanks for your message,

Randy Jacob
