Is there any reason why new brackets couldn't be cut out of something like 1/4-inch-thick aluminum or stainless steel? (Ignoring any concerns for originality, of course.) Anyone with a band saw, a drill, and a tap set could make them pretty easily, and machine shops don't charge a lot to make stuff like this.
