Hi,

I've played the violin for a long time and have seen many articles about
strads. But this one was very convincing to me. From CNN

Cool weather may be Stradivarius' secret

I believe it was Scientific American which published
an article a few years back describing how some
experts had analyzed the wood on a Stradivari violin
and ascertained that it had been soaked in seawater to
evacuate the cells of resin, leaving them more
resonant.
