Too efficient dampers?

I'd like to hear some opinions on this also. My understanding is that the efficiency of the damper system is a personal preference thing. But I sure don't know how I would regulate it except for changing the damper felt - but then I don't really know if one type of felt is considered more efficient that another. Opinions?
