Thanks for the encouragement, Keith. I may just leave the tacks in place till something better comes along. Don't know if the owner would want the extra expense if this does the job - it's actually the same thing but non-adjustable. I'll discuss it with him (the piano is the personal property of the church's organist, just on loan.) He has said this was a problem since it was new.
