For some piano related straight skinny on this subject. http://www.pianomap.com/injuries/ You will note that the 4th (common) cause of this in pianists goes to useing excessive force... which it specifies as not having anything to do with the 50 grams or so of downweight found commonly in pianos. Rather... again specified... excessive force is stipulated to mean the user playing harder then she / he needs to.
