Virtual Capstan

Hi folks..

Got the first three side by side key set up working today.

Magnets need to be much smaller then I had first thought. Ø5 or Ø4 mm
and no more then 3 mm thick.

The Whippen magnet was glued to the underside of the jack... just barely
forward of the centerpin. The key magnet was glued to the flattened
spoon end of a damper lift spoon, and bent into place after mounting in
the key. About 5 mm distance seperated top from bottom magnets, and
about 11 mm on seperated magnets side by side.

This resulted in a drop of 12 grams in both DW and UW. Couldnt notice
any real change in these when moving a neighboring key to try and
interfere.

The tendancy for the hammer to rise quickly towards then bottom of the
key stroke was eliminated, And the Jack had just slightly increased
strength in returning to the stop button.

The next step is to figure out some nice adjustable mounting gismo for
the key magnet that can easily be flipped out of the way (en masse) for
capstan adjustment.

Cheers
RicB
