Response in Post, was: Avery Todd/Re..My Post

Terry,
The digest comes as one single email bundled with many posts together.
If one simply pushes the reply button, the whole digest is automatically
copied and appears in the reply. That would be a huge amount of
verbiage to be sending...a real drag for those on the receiving end..
Therefore, a person responding to a single post in the digest must take
the time to cut and paste the comments to which he/she is responding and
to type in the appropriate subject. (That's why often there is no "RE:"
in the subject unless they thought to add it.) It takes a little bit
longer and thus, if you're in a hurry to respond, many people leave out
this step. I'd just as soon get all the posts individually and delete
what I don't want. When modems and phone lines ran slower, it was often
a necessity. Now it may not be for some people. Wonder why some get a
digest which is harder to read through, in my opinion.

My request has always been that they copy the subject exactly how it
appeared originally, so their responses do not get lost. Some of us
actually save these threads by topic and the new subject easily gets
lost in the shuffle!

Hi Joe. When I respond to a post, the original automatically appears in
my response post - I don't have to type it in manually. Obviously, your
set up does not do that. I wonder why? Is it because you are reading the
posts from the digest (wich I know nothing about)? Do others that
respond from the digest have the original post appear in their response
automatically somehow?

I ask this because I value Joe's inputs, but often find it difficult to
figure out what he is responding to.
