I haven't tried it but I will soon.  Use 5 or 10 mil thick Mylar or such and
punch a washer using the spring loaded punch just a bit smaller than the OD
of the bolt head and then punch a center hole to fit the neck of the bolt.
I would think that would protect the finish.  It should also work for an
oval head screw that uses a countersink hole.  Just an idea.
