I am not sure what you mean by "block triads" but Montal  in 1830
(ca)mentioned playing triads in the "4 -6 position"  which in
modern pedagogy is a triad in the second position, through the
circle of 5ths. They are supposed to sound the same.....  guess
what  temperament he was advocating......
