I also like to play "Fur Elise" but most upright actions (and a majority of the poorly regulated grands one sees) can't handle the "B" section or the A minor run on the "C" section very well--at least not at the tempo I play them. It's a good piece on which to demonstrate good grand regulation, or the need for it. A piece that is really fun, real "show-offy," and not at all hard to learn is "Toccatina" by Dmitri Kabalevsky. It's in the "Music For Millions" series published by Music Sales Corporation, specifically in (I think) the first (easiest) of the "Classics to Moderns" series called "Easy Classics to Moderns." Is that confusing or what?!? Here are three links to other books with this piece in them. It's really fun to play, uses quite a bit of the keyboard, and is showy, as I say. The left hand plays a simple melody with very little shifting of position and the right hand plays little off-the-beat chords while you hold the right hand in a "mold," a fixed spacing of the fingers--so you play different chords and move quite a bit BUT you only have to track where the thumb plays and the rest just fits. www.pianoplace.com/PS011.html www.encoremusic.com/piano/1701393.htm http://www.pianospot.com/1701318.htm Alan Barnard Salem, MO -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces@ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces@ptg.org]On Behalf Of Norman Barrett Sent: Saturday, March 15, 2003 12:04 AM To: Pianotech Subject: Re: Tuning Tunes A portion of "Fur Elise" is always good and then a song with nice harmonies. Then being old enough that the humor is obvious, I say that I like to flirt and play "Let Me Call You Sweetheart". Maybe I'd better not sign this one. ----- Original Message ----- From: <stars@teleport.com> To: <pianotech@ptg.org> Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2003 10:42 PM Subject: Tuning Tunes > Hey Y'all, > how do you pick 'em?
