Yep... and they are not alone. Used to be one of my "must do's" in a general
Samick grand prep was to grind that nonsense right off. There is absolutely
no good reason I can think of for such deep checkering. Just guarantees that
the back check leather disintergrates in the course of a couple three --
four years.

You probably will get nowhere with the warranty, but file the tails clean
and smooth whilst putting a nice shape on them, and re-leather the back
checks.
