Today I was prepping a brand new Vivace piano, made in China by =
Sejung. I regulated and aligned the capstans, and was about to regulate =
the let-off when I noticed something strange: the jack-stop rail is =
directly above he eyelets for the regulating buttons. There is NO room =
to get the regulating tool in there. IN order to access the eyelets, =
I'll have to bend the jack-stop rail a fair amount. What were they =
thinking: that the let-off would be set for life? =20

Any ideas? Is this a weird configuration or what? =20

<<What were they thinking: that the let-off would be set for =
life?>>

Yes, that's exactly what they were thinking. It's amazing how =
many things in pianos are designed with the underlying thought that "Our =
pianos are perfect; nobody'll ever need to adjust this or get a tool in =
here ."
If the props for the jack stop rail turn easily, I would turn it =
in far enough to be able to regulate let-off. If that prevents the =
jacks from coming far enough away from the butts, then try bending the =
rail up. Do you have the type of eye-screw regulator that lets you turn =
the screws at an angle? Or are they the spade type?
It'd be a big hassle, but you could remove the jack stop rail, =
regulate let-off, then put it back. =20

Either it's "Our pianos are perfect" or it's "The customer will =
never notice" if these are meant to be entry-level pianos. How many =
times are we asked by dealers "just tune it, and make sure that when you =
push a key down, the hammer hits the strings" ? In other words, "don't =
worry about the regulation." =20

On the flip side, how many times have customers called for tuning =
appointments and when asked if there were any technical problems, =
answered that they were not aware of any? Then when we get there, we =
find all kinds of problems ......
