Rib Crowned Sound Boards

I suspect "rib crowned" soundboards have been around a lot longer than we
would like to think. I rebuilt a McCammon, 54" Upright, 1879. A rather
strangely built piano, in many ways. It definately had a Rib Crowned Sound
Board! Albeit the grain of the soundboard was almost at right angle to the
long bridge!
