To Yamaha, or Steinway... that is the question !

Ric,

That is understandable, but the Steinway C 227 is a very classical
tone piano, can't be used in each situation

I like them a lot when they are good, but they tend to be nasal in the
medium range. that is corrected with voicing (pre-build tone) and
there is a lack of coloration as a result. the treble also is very
different of the C and the B - less powerful.

The pianists I talk with about this comparison S&S/Yamaha say
generally that Yamaha's can't be pushed as far as Steinways .AS you
says they have hard times to play them as strong and deep.

Could be interesting to see where does lie these limitations,
technically.
The keyboard from the Japanese make seem very well made, I'll check
their flex as soon I can, I believe this have been checked by when
designed.


But that's only my (certainly biased) ideas.
