Why 88 keys on a piano? well, 85 on some and more on a Bosie Imperial

How many pianos are there in the world - impossible to say as it would take
the same manpower as a census in each country to get close to the answer

How many pianos are there in the U S? see above

or why not ask How long is a piece of string? - that's an easy one - a third

The PTG receives occasional research requests from journalists. We want
to help, but have limited ability to do so.

Can anyone answer the following questions, citing sources?

Thanks,
