Short Treble (sustain?)

Ok, I can relate to varnish being relativly soft, but I got to wonder how much
varnish on a bridge top is needed before its going to make a difference one can
measure. Seems like a natural enough wonderment :):).... so its your opinion
that a few coats is enough to make a difference ??
