Wayne, I understand what you mean. The only way for you to be a better tuner is to become more familiar with the aural side of the art. There's all kinds of aides built into the piano that will help you understand what you need to hear..perhaps no one has taken all the time necessary to show you all the tricks. The first trick is to lose the ETD for awhile and force yourself to do it aurally..and make it musical.
