"Joe: Stravinsky breaks strings! dave" Dave, Not if all things are as they should be!!!!!! Of course, there are some pianists that can break stings at will, but that's another thing all together. My feeling is: I don't care what kind of music is being played, the piano should not break strings unless there is a problem, albeit scale, terminations, hammers, regulation, .....etc.! Stravinsky wrote/played on truly lesser pianos than a Steinway "D" and probably didn't have any sting problems. (Of course that's just a guess on my part.<G>) Beethoven broke strings.
