If you know your tuning theory, you can use this device to create fine tunings. On the other hand, there are other ETD's available that do a much better job of releiving you of that responsibility. SAT, RCT, and the Verituner all calculate superious tuning curves based on the real partial ladders of selected notes of the instrument. Verituner actually samples all tones and updates the calculated tuning as you go. Tunelab 97 and Tunelab Pro take a slightly different approach to tuning curves, but you are able to achieve very good results with these as well. The by far best bargain is the Tunelab 97, which is shareware and costs about 50 dollars (if Robert still has this available). Note that for the RCT and Tunelab programs you need a laptop with a decent soundcard and a microphone input.
