California fires-OT

One of the fires was started accidentally by a "hunter" who had become
separated from his buddy.  He used a flare to signal...  Personally, I
don't buy it.  They have this guy in custody, but I think he's going to
get off with a misdemeanor.  There's also a report that a man was seen
throwing something into the brush, and driving away in a van.  I don't
think anyone's been found/arrested in that case.  I've not heard whether
anyone was setting fires to find work fighting them, at least in this
instance, but it's been done before.

Some news stations over here in Europe have reported that there is a
belief that one or more of these fires were set on purpose by either
some nut or somebody looking for work fighting fires... any body heard
anything about that over there ?
