After many years of servicing new grand piano's it has become very =20 clear to me that a grand piano functions more smoothly when one applies =20= teflon powder on the wippen lever and the knuckles, and, that it reacts =20= actually better, especially when very sensitive pianists play on it. I also know that most, so called, concert technicians have an array of =20= lubricants in their tool bag. It is also interesting that, as far as I know, factories do not make =20 use of slippery lubricants like McLube on balance and front rail pins. Maybe they think that, because it is brand new and shiny, it should be =20= good enough. =46rom my experience, I think that it would be much better if a factory = =20 uses McLube on balance and front rail pins because it protects against =20= corrosion and the slippery McLube film stays a VERY long time. That also makes a VERY big difference in key leading. One of the reasons why I think a factory does not make use of these =20 lubricants in the first place, is that it makes it harder and more =20 complicated to control regulation and the making tone. Only really experienced specialists should make use of these =20 lubricating 'aids' because if one uses them freely and uncontrolled =20 they can create havoc and can temporarily ruin an instrument. In the automobile industry we see something similar : some factories like Mercedes, BMW, Renault, etc. bring a limited amount =20= of their newly made cars to "specialists" who then alter those cars =20 into racing cars. That kind of a racing car is not meant for the common car buyer but for =20= a speed freak and/or somebody with a huge bank account. two Euro's, OK? friendly greetings from Andr=E9 Oorebeek Amsterdam - The Netherlands 0031-20-6237357 0645-492389 0031-75-6226878 www.concertpianoservice.nl www.grandpiano.nl ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
