So if the wood piece in this area is integrated into the sides-rim of the piano, then it's a stretcher and if it's installed there as a nonstructural case component then it's an insert. I see your point, but if I refer to an "insert" I submit that very few techs will know what I'm referring to, where as the "stretcher" will be known by most all.
