 Nope it is an 'insert' a "strecher" performs the functions of tying
together 
the cheek ends of the rim and provides stability...an 'insert' does 
neither....

	Interesting point. So if the wood piece in this area is
integrated into the sides-rim of the piano, then it's a stretcher and if
it's installed there as a nonstructural case component then it's an
insert. 
	I see your point, but if I refer to an "insert" I submit that
very few techs will know what I'm referring to, where as the "stretcher"
will be known by most all.
	This doesn't mean I'm correct here, just in the nomenclature
mainstream 
	Small point on a lazy Sunday in Mass...
