That's because the bearing wasn't the problem in the first place, and 
adding bearing to a dead board doesn't resurrect the board.

A board that has collapsed into whatever concave or S shape it chooses, 
just doesn't have the stiffness and spring necessary to support and react 
with the strings. It's dead.
