Subject: permission for pdfs

Do the members of this list have permission to scan past Piano
Technician Journal articles, turn them into pdfs and send them to this
online list? According to the inside cover of the Journal; "No part of
this publication may be copied or reproduced in any form without
permission from the publisher."

I just wondered. Like, maybe the publisher said it was ok but only
past issues or whatever. I'm sure some of us have some super stuff we
could send in. Can we get permission if we don't already have it?

No. Both the Journal and the individual articles are protected by U.S. and
international copyright law. The Journal as a whole is copyrighted by PTG
and most, if not all, of the articles in it are copyrighted by the authors
themselves. This is true even if the authors have not actively filed for
copyright protection.

You may not legally copy (whether from the magazine itself or from the CDs)
and/or distribute in any form any of this material without the written
permission of PTG and (usually) the author of the material you are
interested in.
